The Republic of Kosovo

Kosovo is a republic country  which has a de facto independancy and is located in the south east side of Europe. Before this, Kosovo was a province in Serbia under the administration of  the United Nations. The heart of Kosovo is in Pristina. The independency of Kosovo was acknowledge by Albania, US, France and Turkey. On the contrary Russia and Serbia did not agree.

The International Court of Justice delivered its advisory opinion on 22 July 2010 and concluded that the declaration of independence of Kosovo "did not violate any applicable rule of international law".

International law specialists noted that, although the ICJ (International court of justice) decided Kosovo’s declaration was legal. Kosovo’s declaration of independence also meant Kosovo, as a state, was a legitimate internationally recognized nation. As a result of this ruling, both Kosovars and Serbs can find some grounds to declare a victory of some sort in the long-running dispute.

Serbs, for whom Kosovo is an ancestral homeland and the site of many important Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries, insist that the area remain under Serbian sovereignty. Broader opposition to separating Kosovo from Serbia stems from concern about the potential precedent that would be set by redrawing boundaries along ethnic lines and the likely impact this move would have on the integrity of the borders of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia.

Ethnicity
Nevertheless, harsh realities on the ground make independence for Kosovo the only viable option. In the current state of unstability, relations between the Albanian majority, which is mostly Muslim, and the Serbian minority, which is mostly Orthodox Christian, have reached the boiling point. The Albanian leadership in Pristina, which governs Kosovo in an uneasy partnership with UN authorities, wants nothing to do with Belgrade. Kosovo has already left Serbia's orbit. In spirit as well as fact, multi-ethnic society is nowhere to be found.

In a meeting with Kosovo prime minister Hashim Thaci, American vice president Joe Biden “reaffirmed the United States' full support for an independent, democratic, whole and multi-ethnic Kosovo whose future lies firmly within European and Euro-Atlantic institutions”.

Money
Thaci also received good news from the International Monetary Fund when the IMF approved a loan package of $140 million for infrastructure construction and reconstruction, in addition to nearly twice that amount already available from the World Bank and the European Commission.
() In explaining the Serb position, President Boris Tadic added, “If the ICJ opinion establishes a new principle, an entire process of creating new states would open throughout the world, something that would destabilize many regions of the world.”

We also think that the independancy of Kosovo will give inspiration to other small regions of the world to fight for their independency. Whereas the original country, like Kosovo before this was under Serbia as the main country will become unsatisfied with the separation and independency of the state.

Now that they have independency, they are free from outside control and thus, manage their own country.
