This is how we feel

LEGITIMACY. Imagine that we are now becomes a leader. Thus, we have our own power to order someone to make work. We also have own power to order someone to make a work. We also has our own follower’s must follow all the order that we have said.

We also feel independent. This is because our follower’s will depend on us. we are such a role model to them. They will look at our images, and our behaviour .

We also will be proud because we will have our own government. The build of legitimacy are from the good government. The build of legitimacy are from the good government which are from the good economy, we also proud because we have our own national symbols for the government such flag, motto and own trademark.

SOVEREIGNTY. We feel that have a super power that another people count take any action to use. When we give an order to them, they must follow all the actions. Hehehe….

We also feel great because the followers have to follow our rules. They cannot complaint anything about our rules. They have to follow sincerely. Wakakaka….

We also happy because we can do anything that we want to do. There is no one can take any actions to us. This is because they do not have power and because our own sovereignty.

AUTHORITY. When we have an authority, everyone will respect us. This situation will make us feel respected, appreciated get the loyalty from the followers.

We also feel proud because the people accepted our decision or ordery without any force and complaints.

SOVEREIGNTY, LEGITIMACY AND AUTHORITY

Assalamualaikum everyone......

what we feel about sovereignty, legitimacy and authority..? we want to discuss it overally,,, we've not too agreed with sovereignty use in Malaysia for the king... we think we should use absolute monarch for the kings.... nowadays, king just like a puppet... useless... otherwise we still need to respect them even they don't manage this country........

Miss Fisha:
I think you're still confuse with all the concepts. Sovereignty is to illustrate the supremacy. Be it absolute or constitutional monarch, the King still posses the same sovereignty -- what's the different is lies on the degree of supremacy.

"King just like a puppet?" -- it is a matter of perception because the King still has power to over rule some of collective decisions made by the government. Perak and Terengganu cases? Ringing any bell?

LEGITIMACY....????? for our country, the leader gain the legitimacy by time... after we achieve independence, we still the same government because peoples more trust the old one than the others... besides, we also use the leader from the winner government after the election, not to other countries that they've choose the president just like USA and Indonesia...

Doesn't really explained the 'power' of legitimacy.

AUTHORITY.....,,,,,,, mmmmmm!!!!!!!!........ authority is how someone gonna obtain his/her power( if we not mistake,, forgive us if it's wrong.) Each leaders have their authority by using different ways... Tun Dr. Mahathir gain his authority by his charismatics,, he brave to do anything that he think possibly right... compare to Datuk Seri Najib,,,, he gain the authority by cultivate peoples love to him... such as he was decreasing the petrol price... he also inspired the 1Malaysia campaign... even we don't know what it's for,,, but we still get enjoy the campaign such 1Malaysia futsal competition and 1Malaysia clinic.. besides that,, he also have the leadership blood.. he heritage the leadership from his father, Late Tun Abdul Razak also the our ex-prime minister...... so.. that 's all from us,,, sorry because we late.........;(

Leadership blood? Such a new term you coined out. Anyway, I doubted about it ... =p

feel about sovereignty, authority and legitimacy

Assalamualaikum...

straight to do point. we unsatisfied about sovereignty because we think that in our country, there should not had different in status between royal family and people.for example when they did something wrong their fault were hidden but when common people did our fault we show to the public. it is not fair because it seem violate the other human right. as a human it should fit the same. but there's nothing we can do because we are only the common people.

Miss Fisha:
Honey ... that's why we discussing sovereignty here - the concept that differentiate all of us. Sovereignty exist because the differences. Who set out the differences? Blame it on your ancestors! Who wants to be different? [but, I think I do!] -- to make you feel better, here's something for you: Everybody is born differently, don't die a copy -- note the differences? =p

authority is good for all the people because the people always obey what is their leader said.this can avoid war between ourselves.beside that. authority make the leader and people close because people free to express opinion.other than that, authority make our country safe.

=)

we agreed with legitimacy because that are proven by our government now their administration our country very well since we are get freedom from British.

Then how you explain the legitimacy in relation of getting independence from the British?

Group 2 nak share jugak;)

Assalamualaikum.hye Miss Fisha:)

So,yesterday..Miss Fisha gave us an assignment on how we feel about 3 points of POWER which are, legitimacy, authority and sovereignity.

1st of all,I would like to compliment on how Miss Fisha looked yesterday, which was mesmerizing.true story;)

So,Legitimacy, factually it is how a government sustains it's power. There are several ways to do this, mainly which the aid of time, sounds structure and the effectiveness of their leadership. In our opinion,it is unfair for the people to think that a new government is not as good as an old one.Sometimes, changes are crucial to follow the changes in time.Besides, there is no harm in trying.Just like when we first met miss fisha,we thought she was fierce, but when we tried to undrstnd her,she turned to be nice lctrr ever.True story miss;)

Next,Sovereignity which means 'daulat' in malay. We feel that it is good and important as it ensures peace within the country.Having our own sovereignity, builds patriotism in one's self. Moreover,it rids of ewternal forces from threatening us that we can sleep soundly at night, whch I believe is Miss Fisha beauty secret, right? True story;)

Finally,Authority.By definition,it means one's ability to gain other's respect and loyalty. We feel that it is fair to have authority as we,as the people choose our own leaders. Therefore,we are responsible at choosing the right leader. The problem comes when the people with authority abuses his power and putting the person off his power will be more difficult. But our group believes in miss fisha's teachng, she is the best.true story;)

You know,Arif's uncle once said "with great power, comes great rensponsibility." Power should be used for people, not against them.Power is a strong force, therefore we should use it carefully.Power is also voltage squared over resistance which is a physic formula.Ohm's law.

That's all for now miss.bye.salam..:)

On legitimacy, authority, and sovereignity.

Legitimacy.
We took a long time in trying to understand the real meaning of legitimacy. We’ve actually even need to open the dictionary ‘Collins Cobuild’ to look out its meaning.
‘Legitimacy’  (nouns) : something is acceptable according to the law.
Digging more into every ways to gain legitimacy, seems like government shall not lived by approval from the citizens itself. What sort of government that don’t have any support from its citizens? Government, albeit its corruption or any conflicts that exist in Malaysia, shall ever not live – without the concerns by the citizens itself – that is us.

My respond:
Why don't the government shall not lived by approval from the citizens itself? What about the government that come into power through coup de tat? They don't necessarily need to seek approval from people, but force people to accept them. For Malaysian government case, I think to pick the lesser between two evils is more appropriate =p

Take one example, government, without enough resources, just say it money, shall having a problem in managing one community or peoples. Go far away from this, then you’ll realize that human only needs what have been stated in Maslow’s hierarchy ( foods, habitat, sex, and etc. ). Approval. Approval right? Well, just in case we do not want Malaysian government shall be called as regime. This country, democracy and liberty are filled into it, in avoidance to become dictatorial leadership.

Err .. .what this has to do with legitimacy? And, I think, in the name of legitimacy, then the government did what they do ... the people? With the apathetic attitudes? Blerghhh ... gimme a break!
Ironically, take a deep look around you, and you will realize that people does not want the good government in this country, they only want the government that can provide them with a good place, good food, and yeah, good fat money on their pockets. They don’t care about the integrity, they don’t care about the policy, they’re just care about their money. Bad society will produce a bad leader. Changing our attitudes is not late yet. Trust us my friends. ;)

Uuuu .. such a strong words you used. How would you spell the integrity of government? And, "Bad society will produce a bad leader" is another implied confession? Irony? I'd say that.

Authority.
At first we actually think that we’ve grasp the definition of authority, but then again – when it comes to chapter 2, based on Roskin’s quote ,
“ Authority is an individual’s ability to gain respect or loyalty from people.”
How can we understand that when we already learn that the concept of respect or loyalty is actually related to INFLUENCE ?
Taking too seriously we think, on that definition – somehow we need to realize that there is always, always the meaning of these three things, ( power, authority, influence ) shall interchangeably used.
This remind us, about the simple example to describe. Take an armed robber, a teacher and a businessman.  Respectively, in this case, you shall quickly realize that armed robber is the symbol of real power, the teacher is the symbol of authority and thus, businessman, is to the influence. When you are being robbed, like it or not – they are the one who have a greater force or coercion upon you, shall have the real power. Differs to the idea of authority, authority deals with law enforcement. Legally generated. Legally enforced. Legally executed. It’s all about playing with law and policies. So what about businessman ? Well, after all, businessman cannot force you to buy his product right ? Nor they don’t have any law with them that states that it is compulsory to us to buy his product right ? So what they actually trying to do,  is, indirectly, persuading you to buy it. Owh yes, persuasive way. That’s what we call influence. But don’t limit this three terms into this concept only. Real power doesn’t mean that it only about force and coercion. Generally, when it comes to ‘power’, its subset is only real power, authority, and influence. Aih… just don’t care too much about the definition, pays more to the pragmatic things in this political science. We don’t bother theories too much, what we need is just a practical way to solve any issues related to this human matter.
Yeah ... different people have different opinions ... so does the definition. But, to play safe, just stick to those definitions given, OK?

Sovereignity.
Talk about sovereignity, we still on confusion of supreme power versus constitutional monarchy. Lets say that there is a king, whom have unlimited power – now that’s what we call the supreme power. We don’t call it as supreme if it is limited and the king cannot doing anything freely don’t we?
Thinking again - and just listened to what our lecturer have said, “We call it supreme because based on the historical data.”
*then she pointed out once upon a time about the king that slash the woman stomach that had eaten the a piece of a jackfruit without his permission*,
the king always has the unlimited power. Supreme because in this historical context. That’s all. Historical terms limit.
After all, this is just – simply a view of some novice. Don’t take these too seriously, otherwise, you might be confused. Will you?  ;)

[Topic] How Do We Feel About Authority, Legitimacy & Sovereignty?

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon to all of you !
Hehe :D
I think our group is the first one who submit this assignment. Hehe :D Drum roll please ! Thank you. Hehe :D

Straight to the point, our Political Science lecturer, Miss Fisha had given our first assignment through blogger. She asked us to give our opinion on how do we feel about the Authority, Legitimacy and Sovereignty. So here there are ! :D

According to the facts, Authority is where the leader gave right to give command and his or her action is voluntarily accepted by the people. But sometimes, certain people accept the leader's command because they have to.

We think that the ordinary people like us who does not have the authority should be given the chance to point out our opinion on certain things. The government had given all the facilities to us but are all the facilities that are provided is free? Exactly No !

All the facilities must be paid. Its about the money talk. Based on my own experience, last week, I went to Kuala Terengganu. When I want to park my car, I have to paid the parking charge. If we went to the public toilet, we also have to pay for it. All the taxes must be paid before the dateline. If not, we will be given the fine.

See? We have to spend our money for the things that we actually should not. So in this case, the citizens should be given the authority to speak out our opinion on certain things and the government should consider our opinion.

Based on the Wikipedia, Legitimacy is the popular acceptance of a governing law. But on our understandings, Legitimacy is about the position of one's leader. We think that to make a clear view about the acceptance of the citizens about the leadership of one's legitimated leader, we should have one platform to show our opinion about the leader.

By having the legitimate power, it doesnt mean that the leader use their power excellently. For example, certain of the people disagree with the 1Malaysia because in education, the percentage of election for the non-Malay students in univercity have been increased.

When this matter keep on going, the oppurtinity of Malay students is limited. Eventhough the percent for non-Malay students is small, the Malay students have to compete with them and the others Malay

Sovereignty is defined as supreme power and no one can disobey the leader. The leader can do whatever he or she want. We think the sovereignty should not given 100% to the leader. This is due to the freedom to the leader to do what they want without thinking about the other people.
Not all the leader's command should be followed by the citizens. Sometimes, the leader's command had given trouble to the citizens. I think everyone has experience on this situation ; the citizens have to give the space to Sultan when the Sultan is passing by the road. The citizens have to wait for a long time and certain of their works are disturbed. If we were in urgent, we have to sacrife our time for the Sultan.

In the nutshell, the power that had given to the leader should be practised in the right path. If not, the people will live in chaos. The government sholud think twicely and consider the citizen's demand to make sure the state will be peaceful and blessed. Alhamdulillah ~ :D

p/s : Yeah ! We had done it ! Hehe :D
